I can help you! By Gina

How true your story rings to so many teachers, including myself. Last year, I was a first year teacher in a district and had a very traumatic experience (to say the least) with my teammates (gossip issue that you are talking| about) and with the adminisitration. To make a long story short, I was called arrogant, disrespectful and was harrassed many times throughout the year, but yet I always received great evaluations and the parents and kids loved me. Leaving them in the middle of the year was the hardest thing I have ever done...(this actually turned into a legal issue). Anyway, I got through it. I immediately | | used my time to look for other jobs, and I sent out resumes, made phone calls to districts and got my self some therapy after what had happened, and as many names as I was called by this administration, they did not win. I loved teaching too much. People can call you whatever they would like, but its when you actually start to believe it, shame on you. I BELIEVED I would get another job. I ended up getting three different interviews. I NEVER put that district on my resume. It just so happens that not every colleague is immature and gets joy out of making their colleagues lives miserable. If you believe you are a good teacher, if you believe you are right, and if you keep being persistent, you will absolutely find another job where you will find that it is NOT like this across the board. Right now, don't say a word to the administration or your colleagues; they want ammunition and if you lose control and say something that sounds bad to them they will use it against you. Bottom line- You are a Good Teacher- DON'T put them on your resume and if for some reason you fall down on your first try, you need to get back up and do it again and again and again. I don't care how many districts it takes. You deserve to feel safe in one that is right for you. Do me a favor and don't let them win; success is always the best revenge. Start applying to other districts- You WILL get another position. There is a whole world out there. If you want any further help, PLEASE e-mail me.
