Hi All,

I have had this experience also. I too would love to have any suggestions anyone might have.

There is one school in which I have subbed frequently for 3 of the sixth grade classrooms. 2 of the 3 I have been
in have been pretty decent. Although the kids snicker and occasionally disrupt, they are generally resepectful. They are easily motivated with the promise of free time if they behave.
One of the classes, however, is a class I won't soon go back to. They are incredibly rude to me, they don't listen. They walk all over me... It is a hard class. The last time I subbed with them, I had such

a hard time, I took 2 weeks off of subbing... I eventually came back though.

A couple of observations I have made are........ Because I had success with 2 of the classes, I thought I could use similar management techniques with the third.. WRONG.... I found out quickly they are their own class, and require a different style of management... One of the girls in the class told me that when the other sub is their she doesnt take any crap. I need to learn to have this attitude with preadolescents.

The third is that a friend of mine pointed out that the disrespectful class has a first year teacher in it and this might have something to do with their attitude towards subs... I dont know if this is correct... But it might have something to do with it...
