Mansion in the Mist by John Bellairs. All of his books are INCREDIBLE. I read it first thing this year to my class, and they keep begging me to read it again. The best part is that now almost all of my kids are hooked on reading his mysteries. I follow up the read aloud with a mystery book scrapbook project which they love.
