We are completly departmentalized this year, however next year we will be semi departmentalized. We use a clipboard to mark codes down ie: b=behavior, H=homework etc... If a student earns two behavior marks in a day they
loose their recess for the day. If they don't have their homework they have to go to sudyhall during recess time and complete it. The clipboard will stay with my homeroom when they travel to other classes.
Reading is changing somewhat for us next year. We will have a 90 min. block which we must have whole group instruction as well as differentiated instruction time. So I think I will

have guided reading groups and use literacy centers for the children I am not reading with. We are allowed to do spelling during this block if it is part of the core reading program and phonics based. However we are not allowed to teach the writing process during this time. I will be working hard this summer to come up with a plan, as guided reading groups are new for me.
