AWFUL with a capital A

this is by FAR the WORST class of Kindergarten students in my 13 years of teaching. I just switched from a very parent oriented Magnet school to a new county closer to home and I am amazed at the total lack of parent support
or even caring!!!!!! I have never had to deal with such a group before and I have considered quiting the profession altogether after dealing with the nightmare this year.....I don't know if it is just me, but it seems that over the past 5 years I have seen a sharp decline in student's attitudes (they have no problem what so ever - at 5 years old - talking back, cussing out the teacher

or the other students, beating each other up, defacing school property, breaking my brand new games/classroom items....the list goes on! I have no idea what parents are doing now a days in the area that I teach...but it is clear that they have no clue on how to be parents!!!! Daily folders come back weeks at a time unsigned with papers still in them from January!!!!! I have to call and harrass them to return simple school related paperwork...it is unreal! I miss my Magnet school families and students - but the not staff - gee - the grass is always greener :-) The magnet school was awesome with unreal technology, awesome parental support but awful team mates and my current school is in slumville with no parental involvement and no technology - I didn't even have a computer in my room this year and I am used to 2-3 - and the team mates are amazing...you just can't win! I am COUNTING the days - 11 more to go with this group from hell!
