10 days left...
By first grade teacher

Clip to ScrapBook
and I'll be at a workshop tomorrow. I can not wait for this year to be over, but judging by what I've heard about stuff we'll be doing next year, I'm not too optimistic about it either.

At this point I can say my year
was ok. It could've been worse, but not by much. My class this year is lower academically and emotionally. We're doing some asinine changing classes thing that leaves me out of the loop on some kids progress, except for the fact that officially they are my students. I don't teach them or assess them for the subject, but down the line if something comes up, I'll be the one marked as having
been their teacher. I'd be much more comfortable teaching my kids in my own room how I want to, how they need, so I KNOW what they are getting and not getting. A couple of parents are good, and a few screwballs, but mainly they are non-existent. That's really sad since these kids are 6 and 7. I haven't considered leaving simply because I can't. I'm a single mom and need my job. It's not at all what I hoped it would be, but I guess there are enough good days to make it somewhat worth it. I definitely understand why so many teachers are leaving though.
