my 5th grade teacher

When I was in 5th grade, my teacher took 2 students out for ice cream once a week. I'm sure she took us in pairs for a reason. Nothing was weird about it. We just got to know our teacher, and it was fun for us. Would I personally do it? No...but I can understand the reasoning behind it. The same teacher and her teaching partner would also take us out to eat if we made the honor roll. This was usually a large group of students. Our parents thought it was nice of them, and as a student it was nice to be rewarded. Yes, I was intrinsically motivated and probably would have done it anyway, but it was nice to have someone else recognize my efforts.
