DIBELS
By Heffy

Clip to ScrapBook
We do DIBELS school-wide, and I teach first. I'm trained to give the assessments as well, as there was only a DIBELS team that was trained. It's super easy to give the assessment with the palm-pilot thing they gave us and the diagnostic info is easy to read. The only down side is that I don't feel as though one assessment can really point out strengths and weaknesses. As with anything else, a student can just have a bad day or not care about doing it right. But it'll show up as a weakness, even if its not. And the results never surprise me; I already know my great, average, and struggling readers. But its an easy, practical assessment program, and you can track individual and group progress throughout the year. Good luck!
