We got rid of it

I taught at a school where one teacher was given an award at the parent's dinner dance. It was particularly uncomfortable for the nominee's grade level partners because the parents would stand up to give their tributes and say things like "I hoped my daughter would get Mrs. So and So in the fourth grade because she is the best fourth grader teacher." So the other fourth grade teachers would have to sit their uncomfortably with a smile frozen on their faces. Last year we said not anymore.
