iffy situation

Clip to ScrapBook
What a tough situation! I don't know if this is standard practice, but we have a clause in our contract that says if we break contract, the state could revoke our teaching license for the remainder of that year. I don't think they've EVER done this, but it is a possiblity. Be sure to check out your local policies first!
And, speaking from experience, you don't want to work at a school you think you'll be unhappy at. It might be better (if you can swing it financially) to wait and apply for the job at your preferred school. Then if that doesn't work out, sub and take the maternity leave. Obviously, that may not be feasible for you, but would be ideal. It's best not to "burn bridges", especially within the same district.
