I agree, document everything that you have done with the child...including the different programs that you have used to help him. Show these to his parents as well as nameless samples of what other students in your first grade are producing. I would refer the parents to a program for additional testing...the ESD in your district should have access to specialists who are qualified to test for a myriad of issues. and this would be free for the parents (I think) if this was a concern.
