"Creative Teacher of the Year"

The principal at my school made up this absurd award: "Creative Teacher of the Year" based on "faculty nominations" as if teachers in our middle school have the time to observe others!

His little useless brain fails to
realize this offends just about every teacher in our school! Can you guess why? Because it's a popularity contest! Teachers write on behalf of their best friends/colleagues and this is yet another useless and demoralizing award given at our year one and a half hour "Awards Assembly."
I think he has a lot of say in who wins [personally, I think he chooses]: the "winners" are always his

favorite teachers - the young, pretty ones who feed his arrogant and over-sized ego.

He plays favorites which is infuriating to all of our staff. Hardly anyone likes him and he's a lousy principal (and knows it). This summer, I'd say at least 30% of our teachers are planning to transfer because of him.

I disagree with Wal-Mart and I think I'll take the time to write to their corporate headquarters. I doubt it will make much difference but it may if more teachers start writing.

In my opinion, every teacher should be "Teacher of the Year." I think each and every teacher is a very special and unique individual who dedicates their life to helping students learn as well and guiding and inspiring them. Heck, most parents are not even able to do that now-a-days! And it's really a shame.

So I congratulate you, my colleagues. I think you're all AWESOME! Thank you for all you do. You make a such a positive difference in the world and should be very proud of yourselves. I just wanted to tell you that because I know your administrators never will - even though it's the truth!
