If They Won't Go Call the Office By Carol

DP, Thanks for the compliment. If the kid won't go to the office or runs off (and this happens) then call the office. Sometimes the office doesn't answer so call the teacher next door. Oftentimes, when the kid knows you really mean business, they will go immediately to the office without even waiting for the v.p. or counselor to come after them. Some kids test the sub to see how far they can push them. Not all subs are the same. Some subs just let the kids do whatever they want and some subs back down with the least bit of resistence. They want to see what type you are. There | | will even be times when a kid runs off when they know your involving the office but you've notified the office and the ball is now in their court and your in the clear. Some kids cannot control their impulses and if they do run off they will probably get suspended and it will hopefully teach them a lesson.Meantime you can teach the rest of the class which will settle down real fast because they usually don't want to get detention or suspended by the v.p. or the teacher next door. It's one thing if you suspend them or assign detention and it's a whole different ball-game when a regular teacher or v.p. does it. Then they can't squirm out of it by blaming the sub. Good Luck Carol Carol
