I've only tried a few things. Hermit crabs are wonderful - the kids really loved them. I got the ones with painted shells - and you need to get more than one to keep them company (yes, they like company even though they're called hermits!). I tried guinea pigs and they STUNK (no offense to any guinea pig lovers). We kept the cage clean, but we couldn't keep the smell down. Mice were hilarious, but they were too noisy - running in their wheel all day was too distracting to the kids. Just a few opinions..........
