Don't forget about the less fortunate

I'm sure you have already done this, but make sure that every student in your class actually celebrates Mother's Day and has a mother with whom they keep contact with before making it a big deal in class. My mother died when my little sister was only 6 years old, and I can't even imagine how she must have felt on those days when everyone else was making cards and roses for their moms. If you have a similar situation in your class, encourage those students to make something for someone who is special to them, like a sister
