I agree with the poster about building community. I think with a blended class, the curriculum lines sometimes need to be flexible. There are only so many hours in a day! When I had a 5/6 grade split years ago, there was a Middle Ages Celebration Day at a local college. While the topic was in the sixth grade curriculum, we all learned about it and participated. The enrichment won't hurt the second graders, and if they visit again as third graders, they will get something different from it. Good for you for standing your ground!
