What to do
By Substitute

Clip to ScrapBook
I was once a substitute. I came straight out of college. I had no training. I do not know what substitutes are like in your school district. If you suspect that some of them may have little experience with teaching or
the sixth grade I would make it as easy for the substitute as possible. Make it a review day. Most likely your students will not learn very much without you there - especially if the substitute has never taught before. Leave worksheets that review concepts that they have just learned. Leave a video and have the students answer questions about the video. Couldn't you find a video related
to what they have just learned? Especially if you know that some of your students could be challenging, I would make it as easy on your substitute as possible. Leave him/her the name and extention of a teacher that she/he can send kids to if there is a problem.
