good ideas

Those are good ideas. You'd think I didn't do anything but throw the project at them, the way these parents are acting. However, I did everything you listed except send the rubric home to be signed. The last conference
I had was friendly. Actually, they all were. Apparently parents didn't realize that there was a participation component of the project, even though it was on the rubric, and I emphasized it in class. It's like the kids just go home and talk, and then parents call/write me without getting more details.

Hopefully this is over! I will definitely do things a little differently next year,

like have mini deadlines and an agreement signed by the students. I think a large problem is that it's the end of the year, and people are tired of working.

I did have several students say they enjoyed the project, so not everyone is complaining. It's just more complaints than I've ever had since I started teaching. Thank goodness for summer!!
