Clip to ScrapBook
I've been the turtles (each teacher in my grade picks an animal) for two years now. I'm getting married this summer so I'm changing animals but I think I've accumulated a lot of ideas/stuff. It is slightly hard to find premade
turtle stuff at teacher's stores. I have found one type of turtle border (yellow with tumbling turtles), a turtle board set (turtles racing through the finish line) and the normal stickers/notepads.

You can however find adorable turtle fabric at most fabric stores (G street is good if you're in the DC area). I use them as my board covering on each board with a plain border that

matches the fabric.

My board outside my room says, "Miss....'s Turtle Pond". I cut a circle of blue paper, a bunch of brown "rocks" and had turtles "swimming" in the pond. My weekly newsletter is the "Turtle Letter" and homework is "Turtle Homewok". Bathroom passes are wooden cutouts (just the unpainted ones you get from a craft store) that I painted with whatever the pass is for.

Turtle things in my room:
Turtle Mirror
Turtle EAster basket from Target (they may have some on sale now!)
Various turtle knick knacks
"Mr. Turtle" the beloved class puppet (playfulpuppets.com)
Turtle slippers for the star of the week to wear

My reading corner is a little area centered around a bookcase. I took some of the cute turtle fabric and hung it to look like curtains that frame the area above the bookshelf. Inside that area it says "Take a turtle and READ" and I have about 8 various stuffed turtles there for kids to read with/to. I also have one of those small turtle lamps that I turn on when we start DEAR time (although we call it turtle time) and I pick a good reader every day to get a "TurtleGram".

Cute Board sayings: Coming out of our shell (at beg. of year for about me writing/drawing)
Slow and steady wins the race (for a handwriting board)
Turtleriffic work
A shell-full of good writing
We stuck out our necks (for a character board)

Wow, I didn't realize I had gotten this into my theme in two years...there's much more. Feel free to email me if you want to know more or if you want hardcopies/pics. You'll have fun being a turtle!
