brain stretches
By Sue

Clip to ScrapBook
I loved the testing scavenger hunt. What a great idea! I have third graders. We've spent some time this year learning about the brain, identifying their multiple intelligences, etc...
so we've learned several different
brain stretches to increase the cross lateral left brain, right brain connections. this is my favorite: Stand with hands at sides, feet about shoulder width apart.
The rhyme we repeat is: I can do this
this is ea---sy.
I can do this
I AM SMART!
It's a four beat rhythm so we use hand motions
to act it out. Right hand on left knee, Left hand on right knee, right hand on left shoulder, left hand on right shoulder, repeat.. the word SMART is said with hands outstretched.
It's a positive self-talk message as well as providing the much needed stretching break during testing!
