substitutes
By Ms. P

Clip to ScrapBook
My advice...be yourself. Use your judgement and do what you would do in your own classroom and what you would want a substitute to do for you. If you notice, you will have alot of faculty / staff members pop in your room,
just for a second or two...other times, they just peek in as they pass by in the hall. Let them observe what your teaching style is like. After the day is over, give an honest report, because the kids will when their teacher returns. If they're bad, they will know. Clean up any mess you made, shut the lights close the door, and go home. I've done just that for the past two months.
The slight observations made by faculty and staff got me a private tutoring position in the district with a recommendation from a principal. She observed me without my knowledge and made a call to the district office in my favor. I can only hope that being myself in whatever classroom I have will eventually land me a full time position.
