Don't be embarassed by your sons writing. I had the same problem when I was younger. I was scared to write anything for my teacher. I exasberated the situation by breaking my fingers so many times playing football that today my writing is terrible.
Computers are the future and printing and cursive are becoming obsolete. Ask the teacher if he can type his homework. He would do well learning to type and there are word processors available for a reasonable cost that are portable for class work as well as homework. I wish you and your son the best of luck.
