I am a first year teacher in Florida who was hired right out of college. I live in northern Florida and teach in Escambia County. Here the pay is much lower. As a first year teacher I only make 27,000. The FCAT is probably my only major stressor that I deal with, especially since I have third graders. However, I still love to teach and I love the childern. Thankfully, the cost of living around here isn't too bad so for now we are able to make it on my salary while my husband attends college.
