Do you call on him and then he makes these comments or does he yell them out? If you call on him an easy solution is to stop. I've got a couple in my room who seek this kind of attention. I spoke to them and told them
if they were going to answer in silly ways or try to make jokes they were taking away from the learning of others and I wouldn't call on them.

Do you think talking to the rest of the group would help? You could ask them to stop reacting to his comments/jokes so he has no reason to seek the attention.

Also, I've never tried this but a lot of people on here seem to post about a system

where a child is allowed a certain number of comments or questions per day and when they run out that's it. I think you give them tokens and take them after each comment. The only thing I'm not sure about is the consequence if there continues to be yelling, out, etc. I guess you could employ whatever discipline system you normally use.
