i wrote an essay

several years ago that i typed up for my students and circled and highlighted all the components of. (expository) (topic sentence, alliteration, simile, voice, introduction...)

i make them keep it in their folders all year and refer to it. the essay is on my dog, boomer. (he is a constant topic in my room--he is a giant doofus, troublemaker, so my class is always hearing stories!)

i start the year with information on how i score essays, what should be in them, lists of do's and don'ts for writing, a list of troublesome words, and literary terms, and this essay.
