One of the ladies I student taught with had a blueprint storage thing. I do not know the name of them, but it is what architects use to store blueprints in. These are very costly, but you would NEVER have to replace it and it looks like a piece of furniture in your room.
Maybe find one at an auction, or get one donated if some company was getting new furniture. My dad found an old one and he uses it for extra spaces to put large tools.
They are very nice and you can organize them by months/holidays/whatever and they all store flat. They would even hold your borders to go with the theme.
