Clip to ScrapBook
Although I think it stinks that people are having to move around after being experienced in a grade level/subject, I have heard principals talk about this before. One principal told me he thinks it's good for teachers to
change grade levels/subjects every 5 years or so to avoid being stuck in a "rut" of teaching. If you taught kindergarten for 15 years and then had to get a new job, it might be more difficult to get anything other than kindergarten. I don't necessarily agree with that line of thinking, but maybe the principal thinks he/she is doing you a favor by moving you around. I would prefer to
stay at the same thing so I could become as close to an expert as I could get.

As far as the above poster goes about not knowing her grade level...It is possible that the principal didn't tell the other teacher what you are teaching. I know women at my school who backstab each other and try to act like they know everything when they really don't. Who knows what was actually said!!
