As a result, you have no due process rights and limited rights to unemployment benefits. You work for a third of what the lowest paid teacher gets paid and you have no union rep. (something even the janitor has.) Control over the assignments that you accept is about the only real control you have as a sub. Remember a lot of teachers exercise total control over what subs they will allow in their classrooms. They have many ways of doing this which is not relevant to this post. Just know that they do it and you may never know about it until you stop getting assignments for that teacher. The point is, if teachers can control who can control who subs for them and districts can control the amount of jobs you get offered, then turn around is fair play. Luck, Carol
