Tri-fold name, glyph,
By Petunia

Clip to ScrapBook
Make tri-fold name pods and put in the upper right hand corner of their desk. 3 high x 7 inches long. Put name on front and back side. These stay on the desk all year. Laminate them. Great for you the first few weeks of
school, wonderful for Paras, subs, parents and etc. Everybody can call all the students by their first name. Makes passing back papers easier also. Goody bags for the first day. Have plenty of extra pencils, sharpened. Glyphs make a good first day activity and you can put them on a bulletin board. A large calendar. We bought one and change the days each month. 30x3o inches. Put
a border around it that is your theme. Like butterflies. Put up blue background, butterfly border, and larger butterflies here and there in the space between the border and edge of the calendar. The ABC.s above the chalk board is a must. We have 12 birthday cakes with the month printed on them and everybody's birthday on a cake. Name and day of their birthday. This also above one of the chalk boards. You can look and instantly tell whos birthday is coming. Our cakes are about 12 wide and 8 high. Teachers read aloud fifteen minutes each day. Pick out the books you will be reading and find activities to go along with the books. My favorite is Charlotte's Web. I have the book Black Rasberries in case of a death. The Boy Who Called Wolf, if telling lies are a problem. I plant pumpkins in the garden so that I have a pumpkin for each student in the fall....so many wonderful ideas to use the pumpkins---estimating--heigh,weight,number of seeds, make graphs, practice writing spelling words, yep we write our words on the back side of our pumpkin one week. Roast some seeds to taste, taste raw pumpkin, make individual pumpkin treats. E-mail me for more details. Tell me the grade you will be teaching.
