drama club

Clip to ScrapBook
I was a drama club advisor for several years, and the club still exists at my school. It is great! Ours is for 5th & 6th graders. You can get catalogs of play summaries so that you know what script you want to order.
You'll have to pay royalties and script fees. (One company we used was Pioneer Press (or something with Pioneer in the title...it's been a few years. You could just google it!) We often did musicals. You can get scores and cd's/tapes as well. Our drama club is now coordinated with our chorus to handle some of the music. I'd suggest choosing a play early on. This gives you an idea of
cast size, so you can limit club membership. Sometimes we rewrote the play by adding parts and lines to accommodate a larger cast. I'd suggest getting coworkers or parents to help. Drama Club is definitely not a one adult operation. Also, you may want to start off with a play with a minimal set for your first venture so it's not too overwhelming.
Good luck!
