To end the unit, we discussed "memoirs". My students wrote a short memoir of their own and we made "memoir kites" to hang in our room. They wrote their paragraph on the bottom of a kite shape and watercolored an illustration on the top. We added a tail with ribbon scraps and pipe cleaners. They look real cute hanging in the room.
