You may want to check out England's website for teachers (similar to this one). The address is www.tes.co.uk You have to register to use it, but it's free. You can contact teachers in England via this website too. Click| on STAFFROOM and then whichever board you'd like to go to. If you contacted a teacher they might be able to share a typical school day for students in England. It would be neat to compare and contrast your students' school day to one in England. You could discuss the language as it relates to our language. Our English language came from England; that's why we speak the same language, | | but there are definite differences too. You may want to talk about common American English words that are different from England. Examples: bathroom=loo, fries=chips, chips=crisps. There are many more. You could go to www.google.com and type "British Slang". You could talk about their money system-pounds and pences. The equivalent is about 1 pound=$2. Famous landmarks-Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Stonehenge, Tower of London. Tony Blair is their British Prime Minister (similar to the role of George Bush). They also have a queen. You may be able to talk about her role as it relates to England. Those are some ideas I thought of. Good luck!
