This is my first year to try it, but I'm excited about it. I teach 3rd and I'll loop with them to 4th. I wasn't sure how I felt about it at first, but I really love these kids. I've learned so much about them and I love that we can start where we left off (basically) next year. The advantages are knowing the kids and working with their abilities. The disadvantages are having a rough group and having the stress for 2 full years. I don't have the research myself, but my principal is a "numbers" person. I'm sure she had to know something great about it, or she wouldn't have even considered it. Our school has done it for several years now.
