As a certified teacher still searching for a job last summer, I considered working at sylan over the summer and if necessary after subbing during the school year. What I learned upon calling their facility for information was enough to make me drop that idea completely. In CT, I am not going to work for $8 as a certified teacher AND find that they expect me to work like 8 hours a week only, including driving there for a lousy hour in the middle of my Saturday! I think I'll commit myself to a retail store with less responsibility and more hours. As for during the school year, they expected me to be there at 3:30 for afternoon lessons, (and wanted me there early for training) yet the schools I sub for don't get out until 3:15 or 3:45 depending on the school and Sylan was 20 minutes away- not gonna happen! they did not seem flexible at all and I was not about to refuse sub jobs on days when I was working at Sylvan for an hour or two right at the end of the day.
