    Have someone come in and observe the student and take data (perhaps someone from the Sp Ed office, or your school Psych).
    You need to do a functional behavioral analysis
    to find out truly what is going on.
    Then you can work out a plan to modify her behavior. Perhaps find an alternate behavior for her to replace head banging with
    (such as taking a cleansing breath, counting to ten, squeezing a koosh ball, etc).
    A behavior plan can be put in place with many positive supports.
