1st I would write a personal note thanking her (which probably is better than any gift)

If you want to get her a gift, I would get a gift certificate for her (maybe a nearby place she can go for lunch? a pedicure? Ice cream store?) I agree that it's silly to get something that is functional. Teachers get so many useless gifts.

I coach a cheerleading team & last season they bought me a gift certificate for a massage. It was the best, since it was such a treat & I wouldn't have spent the money myself.
