My gradebook

I am a first year teacher and was clueless at first what I was doing myself. In my school 3rd grade and up has to have grades on their report card. This makes it easy for me because I give percent grades on all work. There
are times that I just put a star on some work and not grade it but overall I grade everyting. Spelling tests, math workbook assignments, spelling sentences, grammar work, reading questions, projects, tests, etc. all get a grade. I assess reading through DRA and AR but they do not get a grade for how well they are reading. I just keep track of that myself. I have given D's and F's before

on work and tests. Depending on the assignment I may or may not put it in the gradebook. I always have the students redo the work and sometimes I will average the new grade with the old and sometimes I don't. Hope I helped.
