Grading Effort

The writer's notebook sounds like a great idea. However, not every student enjoys writing. Maybe you should start off the year with Mind Flow Logs and then let your students go with the notebooks. This way students get some practice in the classroom and their excitement might grow. Students like guides telling them what to write about before they feel confident enough to write on their own. MFL help students gain that confidence.
