what to do?

Kim s teaches 3rd grade and allows coloring and worksheets for free time. She has trouble filling up time for the kids who finish thier assignment quickly.

My teacher in the third grade always had something for us to do even if it was the last five minutes of class. I would suggest playing a game that had something to do with the lesson. If you were doing the states and capitals maybe do a game of which group could list the states and capitals first. Just have back up plans even if you never get to them. Maybe you could have them do the worksheets for homework and have them do another assignment in class that takes longer. Its always more effective to provide more than less in educating.
