I taught 4th grade for 10 years. It was fabulous!! They can do so much on their own. They are fun to joke with, they can zip and tie their clothing, they like to read chapter books, and so much more. They do start getting
into the different sexes at this age, but usually not until January. This can easily be taken care of, because most parents do not like it. The attitude that develops is not real difficult to deal with as long as you set the tone in September about not accepting their bad attitudes.
Yes, the class size in our district goes up by 5 students. That is hard!! In most states this

is the time to teach your state history and really get into Young Authors and Science Fair. This can be hectic at first, but then becomes so much fun. I miss it at times. I am in 3rd now due to a school being condemned. But I'd go back in a heartbeat.
