Grading inschool work
By T

Clip to ScrapBook
I love the idea about grading in-school work almost exclusively! That will reflect the level that you know he is at, and will force his overly-protective mom to face the facts. Just don't send it home for homework. When it all piles up, call his mom and ask if you can keep him after school, before school, or at lunch to finish the work. Have you had the conversation about how independence is a skill that students this age are expected to master and if you all together cannot improve his mastery, he may have to repeat third grade?

It's just too bad when you see parents like that, who think they are helping, but everyone else can see the parent is only enabling, definitely not helping.
