I also took an egg carton and decorated it. I wrote a subtraction problem in each of the bubbles and the students would have to close the lid and shake the carton so that a bead or pom pom would have to fall in one of the bubbles. They would then have to solve that problem. I also used to computer for students to play a subtraction game on it. The students made butterflies using tangram shapes. There are more, but I can't remember them. I hope that atleast sparks some ideas for you. Is it possible that you could contact the teacher of the class and discuss material they are doing in class, etc? I was teaching a science unit on insects when I was doing these math stations, so I tried to integrate as much from other subjects as possible. It would look good for you and I think it would show initiative that you took the time to do that. I would also try and do as much hands on stuff as you can and use technology!! Districts love that stuff.
