Differeniating Instruction
By Liz

Clip to ScrapBook
I went to a great conference on differentiating instruction. This approach allows the children to work on activities based upon choices, tiered activities, compacted curriculum, and flexible grouping. You can level the activities based on skill or interest. I am reading Differntiating Instruction in the Regular Classroom by Dianne Heacox (I left the book in my classroom. I am not sure that is the correct author) It has made a huge difference in my classroom. All students are engaged in meaningful, developmentally appropriate work and the behavior issues have disappeared (for the most part. There are still minor "fires" that occasionally occur. ) The students do not feel like that it is busy work and they are excited to learn.
