Kids learn this kind of behavior and if they get away with it at home they will try it at school. I teach middle school and every year someone tries the ol' eye roll. I say "excuse me, don't roll your eyes at me, that is very disrespectful and send them out of the room. That usually ends it.

Kids aren't always aware of what they are doing once they get into a habit. You need to tell them what they are doing, that it is inappropriate, that you will not ignore it and that they will continue to have a consistent consequence.
