Just a thought
By Another theory of thought

Clip to ScrapBook
What type of message are we sending children when they seek a reward for reading. Shouldn't the reward be reading itself? My class has never had a reward for reading yet beg to bring home an "extra book" or for more reading time. I know this is a philosophical issue, but I just wanted to say my opinion. If children are not motivated to read we as their teachers need to find the right books and ways to help them find the motivation within. I will say there are a handful of children out their who need a reward but the majority don't.
