Making things
By Linda Gipple

Clip to ScrapBook
I took a class that started quite a hobby for me and my kids love it. It was called Literature Bags. Go to any fabric store and you will get ideas ...........more than you want. Material comes in all kinds of themes.
Make a bag out of 1 half yard. Then select a book to match the materia. (Examples;;apple print, Johnny Appleseed or basket ball print..a sports book) In the bag put your book, a matching math worksheet and a weekly reader or scholastic paper that matches. I laminate all and put in a folder.

I have made 50 of these. Once you start it is hard to stop. The teacher in my class sent

hers home with kids as homework, but I have invested too much money I beleive to send them home.

So each Friday, we have Bag Day. Kids work independently or with a buddy on one of the theme bags. I forgot to say that I I also try to incluse some kind of game. Spinner, match, dice, cards, that I make especially to go with the theme.

If you buy these things commercially they cost a fortune. I just put them together by keeping my eyes open. Try this. You will love it and so will your kids. They will do almost anything to earn "Bag Day"
