some student teacher advice
By mdvjc

Clip to ScrapBook
Being a student teacher myself, entering a new classroom is very overwhelming. Some things I really enjoyed teachers doing for me.
1. Introducing me to the children and also telling the children that I am authority
too, sometimes children think they can get away with things from a student teacher, make sure they know they can't.
2. Allowing me to do small things around the classroom, go over morning work, read a book to children during reading time, walk the children to specials, lunch and bathroom breaks, allowing me to complete their behavior journals and grade work.
3. Also, once I felt
comfortable in the classroom, I was able to teach small, simple lessons that gave me practice teaching and also allowed me to get to know the children. This really helped.
Just as long as you make your student teacher feel welcome and wanted in your classroom. From what I hear, we are a big help. Good Luck. !
