Clip to ScrapBook
I have a student with atrocious handwriting. Although I agree with what the other poster said about handwriting not being an actual academic area, I refuse to spend time trying to decipher a student's writing. Students who write illegibly lose points on assignments in my class. By middle school they should be able to write neatly. Of course, there are exceptions for students who I know have issues that affect their writing.

I gave one student handwriting guides, and his father makes him practice at home...The kid hates doing it because it makes him feel like a little kid, so his handwriting at school has gotten better so he won't have to do it anymore.
