Clip to ScrapBook
I certainly would not spend more than about five minutes A WEEK on this. Handwriting (like spelling) merely masquerades as an academic area. Students can live a full and successful life with rotten handwriting--look at
doctors, for Pete's sake--it's just not all that important. You said not to tell you to have them type, but keyboarding is an actual, real-life skill that they will use and need.

Handwriting is tied to fine motor skills, and is not academic. I have had kids who had BEAUTIFUL handwriting--but there was no substance to what they wrote. These kids are letter "draw-ers." They're not

writing; they're DRAWING letters.

Spend the time you want to spend on handwriting working instead on reading and writing. It's a far, far better use of your time, and theirs.
