be more formal
By Lauren

Clip to ScrapBook
Sometimes it takes professors a while to get together letters of recommendation. However, some professors are put off by the use of e-mail. It is very unformal and loses the personal connection of a phone call or even a hand written request. If you are still interested in having the professor's recommendation I would call him or her. A phone call shows that you are sincere about the issue. If the professor says they got your e-mail, just let him or her know that you wanted to follow it up with a phone call because it is something important to you and you wanted to give him or her enough time because of their busy schedule.
